“In Procurement, we take care of purchasing all materials needed within the company—from office supplies to merchandise. This includes, for example, fans and lights installed in the control cabinets. For several years now, procuring printers has also been part of Procurement’s responsibilities. Initially, we only had a few HP printers, which were repaired by an external office equipment technician. He subsequently invoiced us for the repair, spare parts and travel time. We purchased the consumables from another supplier. As the number of devices increased, so did the effort and costs we invested in device management. In addition, we sometimes had to send the printers in for repair and were then unable to use them for more than a week. During this time, we either had no printing facilities at all or had to use devices in other departments, which often involved long walks. With fax machines, the required numbers were also usually not saved. All in all, our work processes were made considerably more difficult and unnecessarily delayed.”
