It has 176 rooms, a restaurant with 150 seats, a hotel bar, a summer terrace with an additional 100 seats, and six conference and seminar rooms with a capacity of up to 150 people. It is managed by Steigenberger Hotel Group AG, headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, which operates around 99 hotels internationally. Located directly on the Linz riverside promenade and next to the Winter Harbour, the Steigenberger Hotel Linz offers impressive views of the Danube and the mountains.
The Purchasing Department of the Steigenberger Hotel Linz is responsible for procuring all materials. In addition to items for the offices and hotel rooms, this includes, for example, IT hardware. Ten years ago, Purchasing also took over the procurement of printers and toner. Repairs were carried out by the internal Technical Department. It then decided whether a device should be replaced or an external technician called in. As this was usually associated with high costs, the technicians often disposed of the devices without carrying out any further repairs.

“This was not the most environmentally friendly solution, as many of the devices would certainly have continued working for a long time. The entire process in the event of a fault was very lengthy, and it often took a while for the devices to be repaired or replaced,”

recalls the Head of Purchasing at the Steigenberger Hotel Linz. “That is why a fast and smooth process was very important to us when working with an IT service partner.”
A long-standing Topcart consultant presented the hotel with the consumption-based Managed Print Services concept (MPS). Regardless of manufacturer, age or model, the devices are fully covered by a warranty. The most important aspect is that all services are included in the price. Topcart provides all technical services and carries out all necessary maintenance at no additional cost. Replacement and wear parts as well as replacement devices are also included in the package. The advantage for the Steigenberger Hotel is clear: “With Topcart’s MPS package (Topcart Comfort), there are no additional charges or minimum purchase quantities. The cost of toner is fixed, and we receive all services included. This allows us to calculate our expenses precisely and means we do not have to account for any unplanned costs.”

Topcart has been managing the printers at the Steigenberger Hotel Linz for around 20 years. As a result, the departments no longer have to handle repairs and procurement internally. If a repair is uneconomical, Topcart replaces the device free of charge. The new device is also covered by the comprehensive warranty. “Another advantage for us is sustainability. Through Topcart, we receive a 100% functional guarantee and only have to replace the devices when a repair becomes uneconomical. Topcart handles professional disposal. We also collect the empty consumables and have them picked up by Topcart, where they are subsequently recycled. We replace the high-quality consumables far less frequently because they have a longer service life than toner from other manufacturers. All in all, working with Topcart is a tremendous relief for me. Apart from placing orders, which I can do quickly and easily by email, I no longer have anything to do with the devices. I no longer have to deal with repairs and decision-making processes and have time for the essential tasks,” explains the Head of Purchasing at the Steigenberger Hotel Linz.","top3":
Case Study Steigenberger Linz: Relief for the Hotel -
